LIVING HOPE COGIC

PASTOR

Charles R. Lyle Sr.

Elder Charles R. Lyle Sr. accepted Christ, in His fullness, at the age of 21 on April Fool's Day in 1979. That's the day he fooled the devil. Charles has learned a great deal concerning life situations in dealing with conflict as a young man. Charles knows what it means to be controlled with a drugs and alcohol addiction; however, he overcame this lifestyle with the help and grace of God. Charles is dedicated and committed to interact with young teens, instilling in them the fundamentals of life through his life experiences. He aims to teach them with God, all things are possible to them that believe.

Charles was born on the third of April in 1957. He has the equivalence of a Master's degree in various studies and three years of studies in Secondary Education Mathematics. Elder Lyle joined the Army in 1976 and has served for over 30 years. While serving in Germany, Charles was appointed as Youth Pastor, Youth Dept. President, Home and Foreign Mission President, and as Jurisdiction Adjutant. Charles later was appointed as pastor of First Spirit Filled C.O.G.I.C. and later started There Is Hope C.O.G.I.C. These two churches ministered and supported the soldiers and their families while they served overseas. Charles has a passion for young people and wants to share his experiences with them, hoping this will help them to make sound decisions; keeping them on a path of successful living in Christ. He served faithfully under the Late Superintendent Dave Draper Sr.; later Assisted Superintendent Elton Draper, and Superintendent L.L. Roberts, Administrated Assistant to Dr. Reginald L. Roberts I; because of his service rendered to each of these great men of God; he later was asked to assist Dr. L.L. Roberts at Living Hope and Later appointed as Pastor by Bishop O.L. Meadows; Presiding Bishop of 1st Jurisdiction of Alabama.

Elder Lyle holds a B.S in Business Administration Management from Columbia College; Columbia, Missouri and A.S in Industrial Electronics Technology from J. F. Drake State Technical College; Huntsville, AL. Also he serves as the Student Government Association Vice-President for 2008-2009 and was re-elected or 2009-2010 term. He has certification as a Private Investor from Penn College. Overall, he’s saved, sanctified, and filled with the Holy Ghost and loves Jesus and the people of God.

One can hear Elder Lyle inspiring others with a short but powerful phrase,
“Be Encourage!”

Sherry Finney Lyle is a humble servant of the Lord. She was born in Ft. Eustis, VA (an army baby) and spent her formative years in Fort Smith, AR. Sherry accepted Christ at a young age and joined First Baptist Church in Fort Smith where she was a faithful member of the various youth choirs and youth auxiliaries. In January of 1978 Sherry moved to Atlanta, GA to finish her first phase of college.

Sherry learned the importance of being a part of God's body, so while living in Atlanta she was a faithful member of Antioch Baptist Church North. While sitting on one of the pews one Sunday, Sherry felt the urging of the Holy Spirit to stretch out in Him and be more than a “pew” member. Immediately after that service, she went to seek out where the Lord wanted her to begin. The following Tuesday, Sherry was looking for the single's bible study class but was directed to the wrong classroom (or so she thought -how many of you know the Holy Spirit doesn't make any mistakes). The class was taught by Dr. Vivian Hicks. Dr. Hicks was a phenomenal teacher who, at the time, was teaching on Ruth. Dr. Hicks was one of those teachers who could make you feel as if you were present in the story. This helped to inspire Sherry. While at Antioch, Sherry worked with the meals on wheels program feeding the elderly along with feeding the less fortunate and homeless, and also worked with the youth. Sherry worked faithfully at the church until she relocated to Huntsville, Alabama to marry the blessing that she had been praying for, Elder Charles R. Lyle, Sr., Pastor of Living Hope COGIC “Recovery Room” in Decatur, AL since 2007
.

After relocating to Huntsville in 2003, Sherry became a faithful and tireless member of Bible Way Worship Center COGIC under Dr. Regional L. Roberts. A portion of Sherry's education and career included a minor as a Laboratory Technician in which she worked in various hospitals and private laboratories. This led her to want to know more about health. Sherry researched various medical conditions and studied ways to naturally heal. The Holy Spirit opened several doors for her to hold seminars on various medical conditions such as: high blood pressure, diabetes, and healthy living just to name a few. Sherry realized the Lord had revealed to her just one of her talents through Him. While a member at Bible Way and other churches and groups in the area, she was again given the opportunity to help individuals to take an active role in their own health.

Sherry Finney Lyle attended the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith; Lane College, Jackson, Tn; and Clark Atlanta University, Atlanta, Ga. At Clark Atlanta, Sherry received her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Community Health with a specialty certification in Geriatrics.  She is presently attending the University of North Alabama pursuing a Master's in Clinical Counseling. Sherry has been blessed to use her gifts to help others to help themselves in areas of self-esteem, healthy living, mentorship of young people, premarital counseling, and marriage counseling. Sherry is very passionate about her gifts and feels very blessed to be working alongside of her husband, Elder Charles R. Lyle, Sr. Sherry desires to continue to touch lives by utilizing her gifts and talents for the advancement of the Kingdom of God.

This past year Sherry was blessed to launch other ventures.  “After You Say Yes!” , a wedding planning service; and Covenant Services, an umbrella organization that offers Chronic
Care Management services to doctors and Health Promotions to companies, offering wellness in the workplace.
